USB Drive Binding

USB Drive Binding can be used to bind protected files to specific usb drive instead of computer. By using this feature, protected files are accessible on any computer as long as the authorized USB drive is connected. This brings the maximum portability and ease of use for users as it’s fully functional without any installations and even with zero rights (limited or guest accounts) on target devices. OwnerGuard supports 2 methods of binding.

? Specific USB drive will be used as a key to access the protected files on any computer.

? The stored license file is locked to specific USB Drive and it’s useless on other USB devices.

? Removing the USB drive will stop user from working with protected files.

? No installations needed to access the protected files on target devices.

? Protected files can be stored on any desired location and media.

? The authorized USB drive may contain multiple licenses from different projects with different rights.

?Automated Dynamic Binding

This method acts as an add-on for the Automated Licensing feature provided in Enterprise Server packages. In this method, user-side license manager will be used to receive the required license for a user specific USB Drive providing the unique serial number user receives from the main Owner. After successful authentication, the received license and launcher program will be stored on the Authorized usb drive. To access the protected files on any computer, user needs to insert the USB Drive and run the launcher program. Launcher program automatically opens the target application and user will be able to open the authorized protected files.

In this method, owner authorizes and prepares the USB drive manually on his computer using Enterpriser or Enterprise Server GUI. The prepared USB drive contains the license(s), launcher program and optionally the protected files. To access the protected files on any computer, user needs to insert the USB Drive and run the launcher program. Launcher program automatically opens the target application and user will be able to open the authorized protected files.
